Going through some older files, I realized I never posted the last installments of my June 2016 trip across West Virginia southern Ohio. You’ve seen the initial installments – Wheeling and Parkersburg-Marietta – over on Site of the Week and here on Toppy. The rest of the trip brought us through a new Toppy market, Athens OH, and then up the old “3-C Highway” (now I-71) through Cincinnati and Columbus (and ultimately to Cleveland, though you won’t hear it in this update!)
Want to be a part of it? We have a whole slew of updated IDs from in and around New York, New York for your listening pleasure today!
I’m a week behind Tower Site of the Week here, but bear with me, because there’s a big pile of good new stuff coming down the Pike. (Literally – as in the Mass Pike, as you’ll see in upcoming Toppy audio dumps!)
Meanwhile, in tandem with the recent Site of the Week installment on Hartford studios, this week’s updates bring us as up to date as possible on the Hartford, New Haven and Bridgeport-Stamford-Danbury, CT markets.
(Did anyone out there record “Mod 102” in its short run on WPLR-HD2 last fall? I thought I did, but my reception was bad and now it’s been replaced by a “Bomba” relay…)
Not just because Austin, Texas is one of America’s great cities, full of delicious food, great music and neat people – but also because when Lance and I spent a few days there last fall for the Radio Show, I tried to get a complete run of legal IDs, and I didn’t quite get to completion. A few stations didn’t run IDs while my recorders were running on them, a few signals faded out on me…and there was all that food to eat and urban goodness to enjoy.
But “incomplete” still has plenty of interesting listening, and this week we finally fill out the Austin FM dial here on Toppy (save for those few missing links). Enjoy!
I was so sure I’d finished up the last of my 2016 IDs…but what do you know? In making sure I had everything uploaded last week from Reading in September 2017, I realized that not only had I forgotten to upload a huge pile of IDs from the adjacent Harrisburg-Lancaster-York PA market. And while Lance and I left a bunch of recorders running in our hotel room near Harrisburg, we hit I-83 south to take in an Orioles game in Baltimore, with still more recorders running. Which is where 2016 came in – somehow, I never got around to uploading a near-complete run from Charm City that autumn, which I’ve now rectified. (I’ll try to get the rest of the Austin stuff posted this weekend!)
