Just completed the annual NAB/Las Vegas trip, and I recorded a few IDs in various markets. A few of these IDs are never-before-heard on Toppy. Check out the new sounds from Detroit, Flagstaff, Las Vegas, and St. George.
Time to start clearing through the backlog of IDs I’ve accumulated. Finally figured out a way to expedite the editing process, which should help considerably on my end.
Tonight’s update is from my visit to SoCal last weekend, flying into LAX in Los Angeles and staying down in Long Beach as I attended New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Strong Style Evolved show. It was a great trip, and luckily I was able to record a wide variety of IDs during my visit.
The uploads includes the first K-Love era 100.3 KKLQ ID to appear on here since the station was purchased by the Educational Media Foundation (possibly the savviest major group station owner in the radio biz today), along with regular and HD2 IDs for 92.3 KRLL and 101.1 KRTH. You might know of KRTH-HD2 as the last remaining terrestrial outlet for Radio Disney, which has shifted almost exclusively to digital/online distribution.
More soon as I begin to work through the backlog. And I should be able to record plenty of stations during my forthcoming trip to New Orleans, which will be my first visit there since 2010.

Another weekend trip to Chicago brings these sounds. I’m starting to pack now for the NAB/Las Vegas journey, which begins later this week.
We spent a very busy afternoon last August, Blaine Thompson and I, driving maniacally from one Lansing, Michigan studio to the next to see just how much of this capital city’s broadcast scene we could see and hear in a few hours. You can start to see the results on Tower Site of the Week (the first of three installments) – and you can hear the Lansing AM dial in this week’s Toppy update.
Unlike Mr. Rock, we will not attempt to rhyme “things” with “things” in this week’s update. (And yes, that lyric irks the heck out of me.)
What we will do, however, is offer up a bunch of IDs from our August 2017 trip into the Mitten State, as well as a few strays from 2016. Tune in and hear the sounds of St. Joseph-Benton Harbor, Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Ludington, Cadillac and Big Rapids – and then come back next week for a whole lotta Lansing. (And see the pictures over at Tower Site of the Week, too…)
