A Merry Tophour Christmas

December 25, 2004 By Brian Leave a Comment

Check out more audio from Scott Fybush and Garrett Wollman’s Big Trip 2001, today from Chicago and the NW Indiana burbs, Dubuque, Pittsburgh, Quad Cities (the Iowa-Illinois variety), Rockford and South Bend.

Yet this weekend: more from my 2003 radio swing through Illinois.

Cleveland & Ft. Wayne

There’s been a CD sitting on my desk for a year or so full of IDs that Scott Fybush captured when he and Garrett Wollman took a trip through a wide portion of the US in June of 1991. (Check out Scott’s recaps.) Today, we start digging into them with some new stuff from Cleveland and Ft. Wayne.

Bloomington & Cleveland

This week, more audio from my Illinois swing last November. This week, it’s Bloomington.

What prompted the Illinois swing was a radio geek whirlwind tour of Chicago, including several transmitter tours and a pretty cool visit to the swank new Clear Channel/Chicago facility. (It’s also where Scott Fybush got to do something the rest of us haven’t quite been able to forgive him for. ) One of our fellow geekers on the tour, Mike Ward, has presented us with some new audio from Cleveland, and that’s part of the new stuff today also.

There is a new Tophour in the works for 2005. It’s not merely the redesign that I’ve hinted about (and that seems to be an annual event) but some pretty substantial changes in the way the site is run.

Springfield, IL

December 5, 2004 By Brian Leave a Comment

Last November, I did an ID run through the state of Illinois on my way to a radio geek outing in Chicago. One of the stops on that tour was the state capital of Springfield, and that’s the newness for today.

Decatur, IL

November 23, 2004 By Brian Leave a Comment

I’m breaking out more new ID audio from my Illinois swing last November. Welcome to Decatur, population nine IDs. (There’d be 11, but not all the stations did IDs, including a certain three letter call AM that I was disappointed to miss. </gi-normous_geek>)
