This week, fellow DXer Mark Connelly mentioned on some local email lists about how he has been converting recordings made from May 1, 1986 (by Craig Healy) and April 1, 1991. Normally any audio from that long ago would be interesting to hear, but these are even more special. They were recorded through the method described here http://chowdanet.com/markc/webpage/WA1ION/vcrdx.pdf where VCR tapes were used to directly capture large portions of the band. These days, this sort of thing is made easy with recording SDRs such as the Perseus. I have one of those myself, and have still not taken full advantage of it’s abilities in the 2+ years that I’ve owned it. Anyway, enjoy some very special IDs from Albany, Boston, Buffalo, New York, Philadelphia, Providence, and Washington. Thanks very much to Mark Connelly and Craig Healy for their unique time capsules of the AM broadcast band!
