It’s been a little while since we’ve been able to get out on a decent road trip, but everything came together last week to allow your proprietor to get out on the highway for a few days to do a sweep of “NERW-land” and, in the process, catch up on some updated IDs for the site.
In Binghamton, we caught the first morning of a new simulcast between WRRQ 106.7 and WCDW 100.5. In the New London-Eastern CT market (actually over on the Rhode Island side), we picked up a relatively new station, WXEV 91.1, plus updates on a few others. Passing through Providence, we grabbed the latest iteration of Rhode Island Public Radio’s multi-station ID. Entering the Boston market, we updated several signals, especially during a swing up into the Merrimack Valley.
On the way home, we stopped near Springfield to pull in the “relocated” WMAS-FM 94.7.
And saving the most interesting for last, before pulling into Utica we stopped at the newly-built WKAJ 1120, which nearly lost its construction permit before being saved at the last second and put on the air at last.
All that travel kept us from posting our next Tower Site of the Week installment – that’s coming this Friday!
