High, high,high above Albuquerque

November 21, 2012 By Lance Venta Leave a Comment

No tower site in America is quite as elevated directly above the market it serves as is Albuquerque’s Sandia Crest TV/FM tower farm, some 1290 meters (4200 feet) above average terrain and 10,600 feet or so above sea level.

This week’s installment of Tower Site of the Week digs into the history and current configuration of the site at a level of detail some might call “obsessive.”

And speaking of obsessive, would you like to hear a legal ID from every FM station that calls Sandia Crest home? Of course you would.

As always, have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we once again politely remind you that turkeys cannot fly.
