New tonight on Toppy we begin with a legal ID from the brand new WFCL Classical 91-1 in Nashville, a very recent acquisition by Nashville Public Radio from Vanderbilt University. For now, Vandy radio lives on via wrvu.org, though it is set to return this fall as a side-channel station on 90.3 WPLN-HD3. If you care to read more about my thoughts on this, I wrote a rather lengthy article on the subject (along with other musings) here.
Also new here tonight are some HD2/HD3 side-channel stations from the St. Louis market from December 2010. Notice the comment made by the speaker in the KWMU-HD3 posting where he notes that the station is now “the source” for Classical music in St. Louis, a reference to the demise of the Classical format on 99.1 FM in that market which happened earlier in 2010.
