Radio translators are being used in some creative ways this ways, particularly in conjunction with HD2 channels that the vast majority of radios on the market aren’t able to pick up. Clear Channel has gotten into the act on that in Birmingham, where it has renewed its “Vulcan” rock brand (previously airing on 105.5 FM) in an unusual pairing of an AM signal, an HD2 signal, and an FM translator. Thanks to Chris Cuomo, we have that station’s legal ID up on the site today.
Also included in today’s update are some IDs that I captured from the Chattanooga market this past weekend. This includes the new Hippie Radio 106.9, which is an FM translator on 106.9 rebroadcasting WPLZ-HD2.
