This past weekend I found myself down in New Orleans, one of my favorite cities in the world. My last visit there came in February 2004, an incredibly fun weekend with friends and partying and overall debauchery.
A little more than one week after that trip, Clear Channel abruptly dropped the Bubba the Love Sponge ® show, which I was working for as Head of Syndication at the time. I had spent more than a year carefully building the show’s syndication setup, and I saw my hard work destroyed in one abrupt shot in the election year aftermath of the Janet Jackson Super Bowl incident for complaints that all dated back to 2001. Sometimes life’s not fair.
So in some ways it’s fitting that Bubba brought a free Bubbapalooza show to New Orleans this past Saturday night, a reward he had promised for the city whose team won the Super Bowl. The Saints did their part, and Bubba followed through with his word, bringing his comedy/variety show to the Mahalia Jackson Theater. He invited me down for the show, and I gladly made my first trip back to New Orleans since Katrina hit.
It was great to see my friends from the BTLS show, most of whom I worked with for 3+ years. I left the show in March 2006, and this was the first time since I moved from Florida that I got to see them in person. It was great to catch up with everyone, and overall the weekend was a fun time.
So, with all of that in mind, enjoy the first batch of the many legal IDs I recorded this past weekend during my visit. This update includes the first HD2 legal IDs from New Orleans to ever appear on this site.
