Last month my girlfriend and I drove up to Cincinnati to go to a Reds/Cardinals baseball game with a couple of friends of hers who live up there. I’m glad that we did, as we all had a blast. The Reds have a wonderful ballpark and it was a great place to see a game. Thankfully the cookie cutter ballpark era is over, with Riverfront Stadium replaced by the beautiful Great American Ball Park. That place is the polar opposite of Tropicana Field circa 2002 with the Devil Rays in the midst of a really difficult run of bad baseball. I write from first-hand experience on that one.
Amazingly, even though I was wearing a powder blue throwback Cardinals uniform with a plantwear watch (a birthday gift last year from my girlfriend, who is a wooden watches fan), no one hassled me about wearing an enemy outfit. Not even a glare or a mean mug. Maybe they could somehow tell that I was actually a Yankees fan at heart.
That trip gave me the chance to record some HD2 stations from the market, the first time that any Cincinnati sideband HD stations have appeared on this website.
