Welcome to the home of the Maryland Crab – the Chesapeake Bay. This week we will start out with the Upper Eastern Shore as it is called by the locals, or the “Havre de Grace MD” market as we call it in Toppy. The Havre de Grace MD market, a new market for Toppy, is one of those in-between markets which is in the shadow of at least two larger markets but has a few of its own local stations, including rim shots for the bigger markets. The market also includes an 8 watt LP FM – WMVK-LP 107.3 Perryville, which is operated by the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA). I still have not quite figured out to whom they are broadcasting.
It looks like I will have to make a trip to this area again in the near future to record WAMD 970. Maybe I can do that and continue to the Wilmington area to finish off that area.
I also added the nearby WHFC 91.1 Bel Air to the neighboring Baltimore MD market.
From Havre de Grace we continue up I-95 to Wilmington DE and then almost due north passing to the west of Philadelphia and on to Allentown PA. The recordings which are presented here were recorded during the National Radio Club convention over Labor Day Weekend 2009. The Allentown PA market on Toppy has had no AM stations represented until now. I managed to record five AMers over the weekend, which are presented now.
Finally, for a bonus, I am presenting WBZ 1030, Boston. This recording is of its HD signal received via skywave. I tried to get the TOH ID of WBZ‘s HD signal for two days over several TOH’s, but could never get the signal to stay locked. I finally got it at 3 AM on a Saturday morning and that is what is presented here.
Have a good one!
Bill
I also added some clips of Reading stations to the new Reading PA folder.
