OK, I admit it – I’m stalling. At some point in the next few weeks, I’ll start the taps flowing on a whole stream of IDs from one of the several “mini-Big Trips” I took in the summer of 2008, en route to (maybe?) getting caught up with what’s once again a growing pile of backlogged tapes and digital audio files that need to be edited down and posted here.
But there are two problems along the way. Beyond the obvious one of simple procrastination (and when it comes to crastinating, I’m no amateur, I’m a pro!), there’s the attempt I usually make to coordinate big series of Toppy postings with photo essays over at Tower Site of the Week.
Problem is, Tower Site is tied up through the end of the month with a different series – my annual attempt to sell as many Tower Site Calendars as I can before the new year begins. (Have you bought yours yet?)
So my big series of Pennsylvania-Maryland-DC IDs and photos won’t start rolling until early December.
But in the meantime, I found a batch of IDs on the hard drive that are largely new to Toppy: a full run of AM from the Ithaca, NY market and a few IDs from an area near me that’s never made a Toppy appearance, the northern Finger Lakes, which appear here as the new Geneva, NY market.
As I’ll explain in more detail next week, these IDs from early 2008 captured the market just ahead of some big transitions (some of them still incomplete!)
Oh, and have you bought your Tower Site Calendar yet? Just checking…
Good deal! I am looking forward to your clips from down this way, and comparing what you have with what I have. There are a lot of holes on TOPPY, maybe we can fill them in.
I also have some stuff from up your direction and need to get with you about which market to place them. For example, I am not sure where to put my Mansfield-Tioga area stuff.
Is it possible to buy a calendar from you on my trip to the Rochester area over the Thanksgiving weekend? Looking forward to seeing you again.
Bill
I think I’d be inclined to lump the Mansfield-Tioga stuff with Williamsport, unless there’s enough to justify a separate market. (Probably not.)
And yes, I’d be happy to sell you a calendar in person! See you next week…
Yes, that is one way I looked at the Mansfield-Tioga stuff. However, I spoke with a local from that area and he said they have a bigger affinity to the Corning-Elmira market than with Williamsport. And of course if you expand the “market” to a couple of neighboring counties along the NY-PA border you might have enough stations…. Sigh, there is no clean way of doing it. It is one of those “in-between” areas.
