In honor of a fine performance by Cliff Lee and the Phillies this evening, we have a selection of HD2 IDs from Philadelphia, recorded during the NAB Radio Show last month. I was able to grab IDs from most of the HD2s in the market, save for the hip-hop on WRDW 96.5-2, the classical on WNUW 97.5-2, Spanish on WDAS 105.3-2 and a handful of AM simulcasts (610 on 94.1-2, 860 on 92.5-3, 950 on 102.9-3 and 1480 on 106.1-2). Transmitter problems at WHYY 90.9 had their HD off the air while I was in town.
The WRTI 90.1 IDs are of particular note: since the demise more than a decade ago of Philly’s last full-time classical station, the old WFLN-FM 95.7, WRTI has split its programming day between classical (6 AM-6 PM) and jazz (6 PM-6 AM). With the advent of HD multicasting, WRTI can now offer 24 hours of both formats, making its HD2 jazz by day, classical by night. Kind of neat, no?
