If that doesn’t sound a little weird, then this week’s update might not mean much to you.
But if you get the historical impact of the end of a remarkable 65-year run as “WQXR-FM New York” on 96.3, then you’ll want to check out our comprehensive coverage, recorded from the Toppy-mobile parked in the Giants Stadium parking lot during the Bruce Springsteen concert, of last week’s big transition that sent the WQXR-FM calls and classical format up the dial to the former WCAA Newark at 105.9.
There’s a rarity here: that “WCAA New York” ID on 96.3 goes away Thursday morning at 6, when Univision’s newly-acquired big FM signal becomes WXNY, “X96.” We’re not in New York City this week to hear that one over the air, but we’ll find a way to get an update for you anyway. Stay tuned.
(P.S.: Bruce put on a fantastic show, but oddly enough, completely failed to mention the WQXR transition.)
