New Orleans is one of my favorite cities in the world, ranking up there with Las Vegas and Amsterdam and London and New York City. Unfortunately, three years since Hurricane Katrina caused severe damage to New Orleans and coastal Mississippi, another severe hurricane (Gustav) is primed to hit the Louisiana coast.
From my location just outside of Nashville, I landed a legal ID from 870 WWL in the early morning hours today. Between 870 providing information that can be heard (at least in the overnight hours) for hundreds of miles and WDSU being broadcast on DirecTV, the local New Orleans media is providing not only a service to the greater New Orleans area, but also to people nationwide who are watching with concern from afar.
My hometown of Nashville saw the return of 102.5 The Party this week, which is the same name of the CHR that was displaced for Hot AC on the 102.5 signal in October 2005. We act quickly when we can here at Toppy, and with that in mind I have the brand new 102.5 The Party ID (complete with new calls WPRT-FM) on here tonight. While WPRT-FM has trouble reaching some of the greater Nashville area, the station’s take on CHR will be an interesting contrast with Clear Channel’s adult-leaning CHR 107.5 The River.
Finally, I leave you tonight with new IDs from Greenville-New Bern-Morehead City, NC. More from North Carolina awaits you next week.
