So there I was, standing in the studio of the new CKLC-FM in Kingston, Ontario earlier today, looking at the Scott Systems automation playlist – and what to my wondering eyes should appear at the :57 mark but “LEGAL ID”?
And sure enough, at the appointed moment, my ears (and the tape running out in the car) heard “CKLC FM Kingston.” Better yet, this particular ID is running four times an hour, thanks to the fact that the new signal is still in “testing mode.” How cool is that?
No, you won’t hear any Kingston on this week’s update – we’re running about eight months behind on aircheck scoping here at Toppy Northeast, which means this week’s featured audio (as in, what was all ready to go on the hard drive when I finally got home after 11 at night!) comes to you from an August trip through Chicago. Not that there’s anything wrong with Chicago, mind you…
And it gets worse (or better, depending on your point of view) – Toppy Northeast becomes Toppy West Coast for the next couple of weeks, as the annual NAB trip looms. Yes, that means more Vegas IDs, sooner or later, as well as Bakersfield, LA, San Diego/Tijuana (where the Mexican stations ID at the bottom of the hour, too!), Palm Springs and more…eventually. It also may mean no updates from here for a bit. I trust Jeff and Blaine and Lou and Brian will keep things hopping in the meantime!
