Last September, the NAB and Radio & Records brought their conventions to Charlotte, a city I’ve always wanted to visit. So, when Scooter suggested that we meet up at the convention with some of our geek friends and do a Medium-Sized Trip through the Carolinas and southern Virginia, I was totally up for it. But…life is what happens when you’re making other plans: work schedules didn’t allow for some of the geeks to join, the trip had to be shortened for another, and it was right about then that I added a second station to my fiefdom — and I was out, too. (Scott made the trip and he’ll have some IDs up later this year.)
One of the cities that was on the aborted agenda also happened to be the first Toppy market that I didn’t record personally: Charleston. (Ted Tatman was our very first contributor, in December 2001.) Six years later, VO King Chris Rollins was in town for some R&R and grabbed us some updated clips. So while I didn’t get to Chucktown personally, enjoy the new hotness anyway.
