The Iron Range, that is – the northern frontier of Minnesota, where we traveled last August as part of the “2005 Big Trip” that we’re chronicling in audio form here and in picture form over at Fybush.com/Tower Site of the Week.
This week, our recap of the trip brings us to Hibbing-Virginia, MN and International Falls, MN, both new markets to the site. And since they’re places we’re not likely to return to for a very long time, especially remote International Falls, we’ve resigned ourselves to some tape-warble problems on one International Falls ID heard here – and we didn’t even bother posting another International Falls ID that was so far under the music that it couldn’t be heard. *sigh*
Hibbing, meanwhile, is both Bob Dylan’s hometown and the answer to a truly great radio trivia question: where’s the one spot in America where a “K” call station shares a tower with the very same set of “W” calls?
Next week: we return to Minneapolis!
