Taking a break from playing Extreme Office Makeover Home Edition (in fabulous Week Number Two!) for tonight’s update.
Around Labor Day 1993, I was headed to the first (and last) Wisconclave get-together in Stevens Point, WI and coincidentally, had just bought a new car. It seemed to me that the best way to break it in was to make a nice circular jaunt around Wisconsin taping IDs for Toppy. In addition to Wausau-Stevens Point, Mrs. Toppy and I hit Milwaukee, Sheboygan and Appleton-Green Bay, and as is often the case, I packed the tapes away and only just now found them again.
Dig on it: Wausau ’03, Part 1.
It’s a good thing that Mrs. Toppy did not find this road trip to be a sign of an insane hobby! 🙂 Radio geekery is something not understood by all! (I know I get ribbing for having tens of JAM reel to reel boxes on the shelf — uncool people often ask “What the heck are these things??)
For what it’s worth, Mrs. Toppy was really Eight-Months-Away-From-Being Mrs. Toppy when this particular trip was taken, and yet chose to go through with the wedding anyway.
As I believe Mr. Fybush (and our non-married co-editors) will attest, patience is a key factor in choosing a mate. Our wives are freakin’ saints.
