Insert Obvious “Blink” Pun Here

April 10, 2005 By Brian 2 Comments

More ID newness: Allentown, New York and Scranton-Wilkes Barre. The New York stuff is interesting because there’s a lot of the IDs culled from the long stunting period between the death of FM Talk 102.7 WNEW and 102.7 Blink. The first ever legal ID as Blink is also included.

Thanks!
John Yanagi

Brian bleats: I always thought Blink was a pretty good concept that could have worked if the bugs had been worked out before a highly visible, incredibly expensive launch. In fact, I am quite a fan of the Blink name, although it’s now the radio equivalent of “Edsel.” In listening to the airchecks of the station, it also sounded almost like a very female targeted version of the Jack format. (Jill?) Maybe Blink was ahead of its’ time?

I still think an entertainment themed format could work… but on a female-leaning talk station. And who knows, maybe the “variety hits” Jack format might end up on 102.7 at some point down the line.
